The Daily Bulletin, December 25, 1882, wrote, “It was a happy thought on the part of the Library Association to celebrate the Christmas season by the presentation of Dickens’ esteemed ‘Carol.’ This gem of mingled humor and pathos … was well rendered to the appreciative audience on Friday evening last by ladies and gentleman whose talents are well known in our community. The music furnished for the occasion by the Amateur Quintette was of unusual excellence.”

107. Records at St. Andrew’s show that the Queen stood sponsor for the following baptisms: on Christmas eve for Bernice Piilani Irene Cook (later known as Bernice Irwin), and on Christmas day for Albertina Keliikukapu, Johannah Testa, and Amelia Ellen Holt (the latter being a granddaughter of Mrs. Daniels of Wailuku, Maui).
